Daily Bijoy News Teknaf, Cox's Bazar Correspondent:
A total of 248,000 pieces of Yaba were seized in an operation conducted by Teknaf Battalion 2 BGB. According to Teknaf 2 BGB Captain Lt. Col. Md. Mohiuddin Ahmed, the drugs were recovered on the night of Tuesday, November 26, during a BGB operation. Acting on confidential intelligence, it was believed that a shipment of drugs was being smuggled from Myanmar into Bangladesh through an area known as Number One and a Half, located about 2 km southeast of BRM-6, under the jurisdiction of Teknaf Nazirpara BOP.
Two anti-smuggling patrols from Nazirpara BOP were deployed to monitor the border closely. Around 1:30 AM, the patrol teams spotted six individuals swimming across the Naf River and crossing the zero line of the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, roughly 500 yards inside Bangladesh, near Keora Bagan. When the smugglers noticed the patrol, they abandoned several bags and fled into the dense Keora garden along the Naf River. A search operation in the area led to the recovery of three bags containing 248,000 Yaba tablets.
Despite conducting operations throughout the night, the patrol team was unable to arrest any of the smugglers or their associates. However, intelligence operations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those involved in the smuggling attempt.
