The poor condition of the connecting bridge over the boundary canal in Barabil village of Gorjania union of Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar district, south of Baishari union of Naikshongchhari upazila, has been noticed. Students and the public have to cross the risky bridge constantly. Autovans, tomtoms, auto-rickshaws, motorcycle drivers and traders are in trouble as small and medium-sized vehicles cannot ply through the bridge.
 
According to local sources, they are suffering greatly as the bridge has been unusable for a long time. Despite some arrangements for transportation by buses funded by the villagers, the bridge has remained in its previous risky condition for a few days. Locals also said that many pedestrians have been victims of accidents while crossing the bridge because the risky bridge has not been repaired for a long time.
 
It is known that they have to maintain communication by crossing this risky bridge to reach offices, educational institutions, and medical centers in the upazila/union headquarters. Since it is on the border of the two unions, no local public representative has taken any initiative to repair the risky bridge. Therefore, the residents of the border areas of the two unions are urgently drawing the attention of the concerned officials to repair the bridge.
 
In this regard, civil society, pedestrians, extraordinary people and madrasa teachers of the area said that since it is borderline, no one is taking the initiative to repair the bridge. As a result, it is very difficult for school and college students to travel. They have to cross the bridge to go to their workplaces at the risk of their lives. The need for a bridge is urgent. The Gorjania Union Parishad Chairman said that unless the work on the bridge is redone by LGED, it will not be possible to make it suitable for communication with the allocation of the council.
