In Naogaon, UP member brutally attacked with sharp weapons for speaking to police

In Naogaon Sadar Upazila, a UP member from Ward No. 6 of Dubalhati Union was brutally attacked and left critically injured by a group of armed terrorists. The incident occurred when the UP member was speaking with the police. The attackers used sharp weapons, including a Chinese axe, to assault him.

On February 9, local terrorists attacked Md. Sazzad Hossain, a member of Ward No. 6 of Dubalhati Union Parishad, with a Chinese axe and other sharp weapons, leaving him severely injured. According to sources, on the afternoon of February 9, SI Bulbul of Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station went to Dubalhati Char Matha to arrest Saiful, a wanted accused. To confirm Saiful's identity, SI Bulbul asked UP member Sazzad Hossain if the person was indeed Saiful. Sazzad confirmed, and the police arrested Saiful and left for the police station.

Later, UP member Sazzad Hossain went to a local shop at Char Matha to eat bread. At that time, a group of terrorists, including Masud Rana, Uzzal, Rayhan, Shakil, Shaon, Akash, Rahim (Kausar), Firoz, Sumon, and Mamun (Badol), armed with Chinese axes, ramdas, cleavers, iron rods, and sticks, attacked him openly on the orders of their leader, Mamun. Masud Rana struck Sazzad Hossain on the back of his head with a Chinese axe. Although many people gathered at the scene upon hearing Sazzad's screams, no one dared to intervene.

Local residents, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the terrorists also attacked him with ramdas and cleavers, but Sazzad managed to defend himself, preventing his throat from being cut. However, the terrorists continued to assault him from all sides until he fell to the ground. A terrorist named Shakil broke his legs by repeatedly hitting him with an iron rod. Locals added that due to the current situation in the country, no one dared to step forward or rescue him.

When the news reached Sazzad Hossain's home, his son, along with other family members, rushed to the scene and took him to Naogaon Sadar Hospital, where he is now fighting for his life.

Sazzad Hossain's wife and children revealed that a few months ago, the same group of terrorists had attacked him and held him captive. He was later rescued by the army and hospitalized. The terrorists have repeatedly attempted to kill him using sharp weapons. Currently, they are threatening to kill his wife and son. Sazzad's family is living in constant fear.

The Officer-in-Charge of Naogaon Sadar Police Station stated that they are investigating the matter and will take appropriate action.
