Youth Dies from Electrocution While Attempting to Steal Electric Wires in Lohagara, Narail

In Lohagara Upazila of Narail, a young man named Irfan Munshi (24) died while undergoing treatment after being electrocuted while stealing electrical wires. Irfan Munshi was the son of Turaf Munshi from Char-Karfa village in the upazila. Ujjal Roy, the district correspondent from Narail, reported that the post-mortem of the deceased was completed on Saturday (February 15) at Narail Sadar Hospital. He passed away on Friday night while receiving treatment in Dhaka. The incident occurred earlier on Monday night (February 10) at Alamunshi intersection in Lohagara Upazila.

According to local sources, on Monday night, Irfan Munshi from Char-Karfa village, along with his two accomplices, Arif (son of Akhtar Sheikh) and Rabiul (son of Khoka Mollah), went to Alamunshi intersection in Lohagara Upazila with the intention of stealing electrical wires. While attempting to cut the wires, Irfan Munshi climbed the pole and was electrocuted, causing him to fall. His two accomplices fled the scene. Local residents later found him seriously injured and took him to Lohagara Upazila Health Complex. From there, the on-duty doctor in the emergency department referred him to Dhaka for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday night.

After the post-mortem on Saturday, his body was buried. Regarding the incident, Abdullah Al Mamun, the Investigation Officer (Inspector) of Lohagara Police Station, confirmed the death and stated that the body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem. A case of unnatural death has been filed at the police station.
