Coast Guard and RAB Joint Operation in Teknaf Seizes 50,000 Yaba Pills, Arrests 7

In a joint operation by the Coast Guard and RAB in Shahporirdwip, Teknaf, seven drug traffickers were arrested with 50,000 yaba tablets. Based on intelligence, the operation was conducted in the early hours of Thursday, April 10, at around 2:00 AM in the coastal area near Gholarchar field under Teknaf Police Station, coordinated by Coast Guard Outpost Shahpori and RAB-15 CPC-1.

During the operation, a suspicious wooden engine boat ignored the Coast Guard's signal to stop and attempted to flee at high speed. The Coast Guard chased the boat for an hour and successfully intercepted it in the deep sea. Upon searching the seized boat, they found 50,000 yaba tablets concealed inside a sack hidden within a net, along with seven drug traffickers.

The arrested individuals are:

  • Mohammad Faruk (20)

  • Omar Faruk (27)

  • Arfatullah (26)

  • Mohammad Anis (23)

  • Foyezullah (27)

  • Mohammad Rafiq (26)

  • Asadullah (22)

All of them are residents of Rohingya Camp No. 26 in Teknaf.

Legal proceedings are underway regarding the seized yaba tablets and the detained traffickers. A Coast Guard media officer, Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Siam-ul-Haq, confirmed that the Bangladesh Coast Guard continues 24/7 patrols to maintain law and order, significantly improving security in coastal and riverine areas. He added that such anti-narcotics operations will continue in the future to curb drug smuggling.
