Judicial Employees' Work Stoppage in Rajbari

On Monday (May 5), from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, a two-hour program was held in the premises of the District and Sessions Judge Court, organized by the Bangladesh Judicial Employees Association, Rajbari District Branch. Judicial employees in Rajbari observed a work stoppage, demanding their direct inclusion under the judiciary instead of the Ministry of Public Administration.

Speakers at the program stated that although they have been serving in the judiciary for a long time, their recruitment and administrative activities are still managed under the Ministry of Public Administration. As a result, they are not being recognized as full stakeholders of the judiciary.

They alleged, "We work in the judiciary, yet we are controlled by the Ministry of Public Administration—this is a major disparity. We no longer want to remain as stepchildren. Our only demand is full integration into the judiciary."

They further said, "It is now imperative to establish a separate secretariat under the Supreme Court, abolish the 'block' posts, create modern positions, and include employees from grades 7 to 12." The speakers warned that if their demands are not met, they will announce larger protest programs in the future.

Among those who spoke at the program were the district president of the association, Syed Ali Akkas; general secretary, Mahmudul Hasan Tamal; vice president, Md. Tofazzel Hossain; co-organizing secretary, Md. Bablu Sardar; publicity secretary, Md. Ashraful Islam; organizing secretary Abdul Matin; Abdul Alim; Nazir Tofazzel Hossain; Shamim Ashraf; and Alamin Hossain, among others.
