Fine Imposed on Two Individuals in Keshabpur for Cutting Government Trees and Excavating Soil from Agricultural Land

A mobile court in Keshabpur has fined Rashedul Islam, the general secretary of the Satbaria Union Krishak Dal and owner of Rashid Sawmill near Valukghar Bazar, Tk 10,000 for illegally cutting trees on a government road. Additionally, Ranjit Dutt (71) was fined Tk 50,000 for illegally excavating soil from agricultural land.

On Tuesday (May 6), the mobile court, led by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sharif Newaz, conducted two operations. According to the mobile court sources, Rashed Ghazi (36), son of Jabed Ali from Valukghar village, was found guilty of cutting trees on a government road. Acting on a report, Sharif Newaz visited the spot, verified the incident, and imposed a fine of Tk 10,000 under the Local Government (Union Parishad) Act, 2009, while also confiscating the felled trees.

During the same operation, Ranjit Dutt (71), son of the late Sudhanshu Dutt from Chandara village, was fined Tk 50,000 under the Sand Quarry and Soil Management Act, 2010, for illegally excavating soil from agricultural land.

Satbaria Union Parishad Chairman Gazi Golam Mostafa Babu, Satbaria Union Land Assistant Officer Md. Abu Saeed, and Sagardari Union Land Assistant Officer Saiful Kabir Tipu were present during the operation, along with support from local police.

Regarding the matter, Keshabpur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sharif Newaz stated, "Rashed Ghazi has been fined Tk 10,000 for cutting trees on a government road, and Ranjit Dutt has been fined Tk 50,000 for illegally excavating soil from agricultural land. To protect government property and public interest, the upazila administration will continue such operations in the future."
