College student arrested in Badalgachi on charges of raping a schoolgirl

Police in Badalgachi, Naogaon, have arrested college student Morsalin Hossain (Sunny) on charges of raping a 7th-grade schoolgirl. Morsalin Hossain (Sunny), the accused, is the son of Delwar Hossain Faruk from Kola village in Kola Union of the upazila.

The victim’s father stated, "I work in Tangail. On May 14 (Wednesday) afternoon, my wife called to inform me that our daughter was experiencing bleeding and other physical issues. After consulting a local doctor, she was urgently admitted to Joypurhat Sadar Hospital. Later, the rape was revealed."

The girl reported that Morsalin Hossain (Sunny), who lives near Kola Bazar, lured her with a marriage proposal and then raped her. Taking advantage of an empty house on Wednesday noon, Morsalin called the schoolgirl to his home under the pretext of talking and assaulted her. Morsalin is a higher secondary student.

The father further said that on Thursday, Morsalin was tricked into coming to Joypurhat Hospital, where he was detained, and the police were informed. Badalgachi Police arrested Morsalin from the hospital that night.

OC (Investigation) Saiful Islam of Badalgachi Police Station stated, "The girl testified that he covered her mouth and forcibly raped her. She is undergoing treatment for her injuries." The father filed a rape case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act (2000, amended 2003).
