Police on Friday (May 24) freed three families who had been detained in Pabna's Santhia for inhumane torture by Union Chhatra League president Mostafizur Rahman Tanzil. In Porat village of Dhopadah union of the upazila, three houses were surrounded by barbed wire fence and the families were blocked for four days. Santhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain arrived at the scene along with his forces and removed the barbed wire fence and poles. At Shahjahan's house in Porat village. Chhatra League leader Tanzil fled after seeing the police.
According to the complaint, the members of three families got involved in a conflict over giving road space to Ashraful Olum Hafizia Madrasa of Upazila Porat village and not staying with Chhatra League leaders in the village society. A group of 10/12 people including Thantu, Rafiqul, Khalil led by Dhopadah Union Chhatra League President Mostafizur Rahman Tanzil surrounded the houses of Shajahan, Shafiqul and Nazrul in the village for the last four days. Blocked by wire fence. In the blockade, the members of that family, including the students, continued to live a life of imprisonment inside the barbed wire. They were living an inhumane life as they were not allowed to go to market. On receiving the information, the Santhia police reached the spot on Friday and removed the barbed wire fence to block the people.
Dhopadah Union Chhatra League leader Mostafizur Rahman Tanzil said, I do not know about these matters. The people of the society know it. They live a separate life among the 78 people of the society. Bhuktobogi Shajahan said, I bought a place here in the 14th century. I left 2 feet space for road. I had many trees along the road and cut them down to make way for the road. They want to block us because we won't live in the community with them for a few houses.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Santhia police station Anwar Hossain said, after receiving the information, I myself went and removed the barbed wire fence post and arranged their transportation. At that time, when the Chhatra League leader Tanzil and others tried to catch them, they ran away. He said that he will take a case if he complains.
