“Journalists work for the welfare of the country and the nation, risking their lives”

Housing and Public Works Secretary Mohammad Nazrul Islam said that journalists are constantly working, risking their lives, by remaining steadfast on the path of truth and justice. Their relentless hard work, professionalism, and sense of responsibility further accelerate the progress of the country and the nation. He made these remarks while exchanging views with journalists after inaugurating the new hall room of the Burichang Press Club in Comilla on Saturday (November 15) afternoon. He praised the long-standing positive role and professionalism of the journalists of Burichang Press Club and said that they are playing an important role in social development by highlighting local development, public suffering, irregularities, and corruption. The Secretary further said that several plans have been made for the overall development of Burichang Upazila in the coming days, including infrastructure development, road repairs, expediting public service activities, and delivering government services to the people's doorsteps.

The discussion meeting, presided over by Burichang Press Club President Kazi Khorshed Alam, was addressed by Burichang Upazila Executive Officer Tanvir Hossain, Hajiganj Upazila Executive Officer Zayed Hossain, Burichang Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Azizul Haque, and Burichang Press Club Advisor Abu Musa. Conducted by the organization's General Secretary Zahirul Haque Babu, further speeches were given by former President Museleh Uddin, Senior Vice-President Gazi Jahangir Alam Jabir, Organizing Secretary Md. Zakir Hossain, Assistant Organizing Secretary Akkas Al Mahmud Hridoy, Publicity and Publication Secretary Md. Sharif Suman, Office Secretary Md. Shafi, Information and Technology Secretary Md. Abdullah, Literary Secretary Almgir Hossain Bachchu, Hospitality Secretary Fayeaz Ahmad, and members Md. Jamal Uddin, Md. Tajul Islam, Maruk Hossain, Mohammad Kibriya and Md. Rabiul Hossain.

At the end of the event, a vote of thanks was given by Press Club President Kazi Khorshed Alam. He said that the inauguration of the new hall room of Burichang Press Club will make the professional activities of journalists more dynamic. Thanking the guests present at the event, he said that coordinated efforts from the administration, public representatives, and media are essential for the development of journalism and solving local problems. He sought the cooperation of all concerned to stand by the journalists in the future as well.
