The week-long Pitha Festival commenced with a colorful ceremony at the Barnamala Kindergarten field premises in Pabna town. The festival, organized by the Adhunik Upashahar Implementation Committee, was inaugurated by the committee's president and Pabna Press Club president, Akhtaruzzaman Akhtar, on Thursday, December 11th. In his speech as the chief guest at the opening ceremony, Akhtaruzzaman Akhtar said, "Bengali folk culture and heritage are our pride. The Pitha festival is not just about food; it is an important initiative to pass our culture on to the next generation." He also commented that such events increase harmony in society. Stalls of traditional pithas from various regions have been set up at the festival grounds, including handmade atar pitha, chitoi, bhapa, patishapta, dudhpuli, and coconut puli made by women. Throughout the day, the presence of people of all ages in this festive environment was remarkable. Journalists Kamal Ahmed Siddiqui and Arif Ahmed Siddiqui were present as special guests and spoke at the event. The organizing committee informed that this pitha festival will continue every day from evening till night until December 16th. Alongside, there will be cultural performances by local artists, various competitions for children and adolescents, and arrangements for traditional rural sports. A festive atmosphere prevails across Pabna surrounding this pitha festival. People from various classes and professions, dignitaries, and media personnel were present at the event.
