A large quantity of ammunition including locally made firearms has been seized in a joint operation by the Coast Guard and Navy in Teknaf, a border upazila of Cox's Bazar. Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq gave this information on Wednesday, December 3rd, at noon. He said, based on secret intelligence, a joint operation was conducted at the area adjacent to the salt field in Konapara under Teknaf Police Station at 5 AM on Wednesday, coordinated by Coast Guard Station Teknaf and the Navy. During the operation, 9 rounds of fresh shells, 2 rounds of fresh cartridges, 7 rounds of blank cartridges, 13 rounds of blank cases, 2 locally made explosives, 2 locally made weapons, and 3 locally made firearms were seized from the area. Sensing the presence of the joint forces, the terrorists fled, so no one could be arrested. Covert surveillance and operations by the Coast Guard are ongoing to apprehend them. The process for taking further legal action regarding the seized evidence is underway. He further said, to eradicate terrorist activities, the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future.
