A mobile court has imposed a fine of Tk 20,000 on the father of a ninth-grade student for facilitating her child marriage in Kalia, Narail. Ujjwal Roy, the district representative of Narail, reported that Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Pradeepta Roy (Deepan) delivered the verdict on Friday afternoon, June 21st, in Jamrildanga village of Perli union, Kalia upazila. The operation was conducted with assistance from IC Azizur Rahman of Perli camp, according to sources from the mobile court. Upon learning that a 15-year-old ninth-grade student from Jamrildanga Secondary School was about to be married that afternoon, IC Azizur Rahman, overseeing Perli Camp, conducted a raid on the wedding venue as directed by the Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate, halting the ceremony. Hasan Khandkar (40), the father of the girl, was fined Tk 20,000 for arranging the child marriage. IC Azizur Rahman, in charge of Perli Camp, commented, The girl's father and uncle were apprehended from her matrimonial residence in Jamrildanga village. Subsequently, a mobile court, led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Pradipta Roy (Deepan), imposed a fine of Tk 20,000 on the father and issued bail for both detainees. Pradipta Roy stated that due to their cooperation in the marriage, they were fined and required to pledge that the girl would not be married until she reaches adulthood.
