In Manohardi, the younger brother of Industries Minister Swapan was elected upazila chairman

In the second phase of the Sixth Upazila Parishad election, Nazrul Majid Mahmud Swapan of the pineapple symbol has been elected as chairman of Narsingdi's Manohardi Upazila Parishad by a huge margin of votes. He is the younger brother of Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun and Joint General Secretary of Narsingdi District Awami League.

Upazila Executive Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Hashiba Khan announced the results at Manohardi Upazila Parishad meeting room after the counting of votes.

Nazrul Majid Mahmud Swapan got 33 thousand 819 votes in Manohardi Upazila Parishad. His closest rival with the horse symbol. Fazlul Haque got 10 thousand 911 votes. Habibur Rahman rangu got 5 thousand 469 votes on telephone symbol, Priyashish Kumar Roy got 4 thousand 588 votes on motorcycle symbol, Md. on helicopter symbol. Masudur Rahman got 2 thousand 946 votes.

In this upazila, Mr. Md. took the position of vice chairman in a private manner. Tawhid Sarkar was elected by getting 14 thousand 168 votes. His nearest rival candidate Abdul Qadir got 11 thousand 475 votes in book symbol, Abdullah Al Mamun got 11 thousand 343 votes in airplane symbol, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam got 6 thousand 200 votes in lock symbol, Md. 5 thousand 467 votes for Mahmudul Hasan Tia bird symbol, Delwar Hossain Pabel got 4 thousand 734 votes in Tubewell symbol, Syed Mahmud Jahan was defeated by getting 3 thousand 617 votes in Litu Chashma symbol.

Besides, Shahnaz Parveen was elected as the female vice-chairman by getting 24 thousand 371 votes with duck symbol. His nearest rival candidate Afroza Sultana got 15 thousand 806 votes on Ruby Butterfly symbol, Bedena Akhter got 8 thousand 977 votes on Kals symbol, Maryam Begum got 7 thousand 524 votes on Football symbol and was defeated.

Manohardi Upazila consists of a municipality and 12 unions. In this upazila, 24.69 percent of 24.69 percent of male and female voters voted in 110 centers.

In the Manohardi Upazila Parishad elections, five candidates contested for the post of chairman, seven candidates for the post of vice chairman and four candidates for the post of female vice chairman.
