BGB detains 17 people while crossing from India to Bangladesh through Thakurgaon's Haripur border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained 17 individuals attempting to illegally enter Bangladesh from India through the Haripur upazila border in Thakurgaon. The detainees—including four children, 11 women, and two men—were apprehended near the Chapshar Border Outpost (BOP) area around 5 AM on Saturday (May 17). All are Bangladeshi nationals.

According to BGB sources, a patrol team from Chapshar BOP (under 42 BGB Dinajpur Battalion) noticed suspicious movement near border pillar 348/2-S and detained the group approximately 20 yards inside Bangladeshi territory in Rampur.

  5. Shayna Sheikh (40), wife of late Arshadul Haque, Jashore Sadar

  6. Rahima Gazi (45), wife of late Rabiul Gazi, Jhikargacha, Jashore

  7. Bilkis Begum (35), wife of Al-Amin Mia, Manirampur, Jashore

  8. Rashida Begum (60), wife of Ruhul Amin, Dighinala, Khagrachhari

  9. Saiful Islam (35), son of Ruhul Amin, Dighinala, Khagrachhari

  10. Nurtaj Begum (30), wife of Saiful Islam, Dighinala, Khagrachhari

  11. Nasima Begum (35), wife of Sohail Sikdar, Gournadi, Barishal

  12. Sayra Khatun (11), daughter of Saiful Islam, Dighinala, Khagrachhari

  13. Sahel (7), son of Saiful Islam, Dighinala, Khagrachhari

  14. Rahim (16), son of Elias Mollah, Kalia, Narail

  15. Lovely (35), wife of Elias Mollah, Kalia, Narail

The Chapshar BOP Commander stated that the detainees will be handed over to Haripur Police Station for further legal action under charges of illegal border crossing.
