Human chain held by Islamic Bank Customer Forum in Burichang.

A human chain was held on Monday, October 6th, in the morning at Burichang Basundhara Moor, presided over by Master Faye Ahmed, President of the Islamic Bank Customer Forum, Burichang Upazila. The human chain, conducted by Hafez Masud Moisan, President of the Anti-Discrimination Job Seekers Council, Burichang Upazila, featured speeches from Islamic Bank customers Maulana Md. Zakaria Khan, Md. Romjan Ali, and job seekers Md. Tajul Islam, Md. Jaynal Abedin, Md. Zahirul Islam, among others. The speakers said that the Islamic Bank was established with the commitment to introduce a Zakat-based financial system as an alternative to the interest-based financial system and to establish an Islamic welfare state. However, during the tenure of the previous Awami fascist government, the notorious S. Alam strategically took control of the bank. On one hand, thousands of crores of taka belonging to customers were laundered abroad, and on the other hand, without publishing any job circular and by only collecting CVs, S. Alam appointed thousands of unskilled people from his own area, Patiya, Chattogram, and took control of the bank. We strongly condemn and protest this and demand from the present government that all unskilled officers and employees be fired from Islamic Bank, and through a new circular, skilled and meritorious officers and employees must be appointed to turn the bank into a bank for the common people. Furthermore, all the illegal money laundered abroad must be brought back and returned to the customers.
