Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained 170 people, including women and children, from various Rohingya camps in the two border upazilas of Cox's Bazar, Ukhiya and Teknaf. They were later handed over to the Majhis (camp leaders) of their respective camps under custody, according to BGB sources. It is known that they were detained from various places in Teknaf upazila from Monday morning till afternoon by setting up checkposts and conducting drives. Among the detained Rohingyas, there are 88 men, 50 women, and 32 children. After screening the detained individuals, they were handed over to the custody of the respective camp Majhis. Confirming the matter, Majhi Ismail of Jadimura 26 No. Rohingya Camp said, "The administration has repeatedly prohibited Rohingyas from leaving the camps through announcements and meetings. However, some go out in search of work, some to see a doctor, or to catch fish. BGB detains them and later hands them over to our custody." Regarding this, Lieutenant Colonel Ashiqur Rahman, Commander of Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB), said, "As Rohingyas are coming out of the camps illegally, the local law and order situation is being disrupted. Various criminal activities including kidnapping, human trafficking, fights, murder, and enforced disappearance have increased. Such operations will continue to maintain the security and stability of society."
