Police have arrested a young man named Swapan Hossain (25) on allegations of cultivating cannabis at his homestead in Manda, Naogaon. During the arrest, six cannabis plants were recovered from his yard. The arrested Swapan Hossain is the son of Harunur Rashid from Boroip West Para village in Khasumba Union of the upazila. Based on a tip-off, Manda Thana Police conducted a raid on his house on Thursday afternoon. Police stated that Swapan Hossain had been cultivating cannabis in the yard of his homestead for a long time. The weight of the cannabis plants recovered during the raid was 25 kg. Abu Rayhan, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manda Thana, said, "Based on a tip-off, a raid led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Sujan Khan was conducted, leading to the arrest of Swapan Hossain along with the cannabis plants. A case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act."
