Helper killed in bus ditch after losing control at Palashbari in Gaibandha

The helper of a passenger bus lost control and fell into a ditch at Palashbari in Gaibandha. The accident happened on Sunday (May 26) morning in Sankoa Majhipara (post office) area of the upazila. The deceased Sumon Mia (40) is said to be the son of Hyder Mia of Chandipur village in Betkapa union of Palashbari upazila. Quoting the locals, Betkapa Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Mostafizur Rahman said that on Sunday morning, a bus of Orin Paribahan was going to Dhaka from Gaibandha. When the bus reached the area called Dakghar, the driver suddenly lost control and the bus fell into a ditch. Suman Mia, the helper of the bus, died on the spot. However, no one else was injured in the incident. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Palashbari Police Station Azmiruzzaman said that efforts are underway to rescue the bus. The body of the bus helper was taken home by his relatives. A case is being processed in the police station.
