Mohammad Akhtar Hossain Master, Chairman of Bilcholan UP, Attacked in Pabna

Mohammad Akhtar Hossain Master, Chairman of Bilcholan Union Parishad in Chatmohar Upazila, Pabna, and an Assistant Teacher at North Sengram High School, was attacked on Sunday morning (February 16, 2025) while on his way to school. For some time, there had been a conflict with some people from the Sengram area regarding a water irrigation project. Following this, on Sunday morning, as he was heading to the school, Mohammad Akhtar Hossain Master was severely beaten by several youths, including Jinnah, Shahadat, and Munzil, in front of the school on the paved road.
Chairman Akhtar Hossain Master screamed for help, and local people rushed to his aid and took him to Pabna Medical College Hospital. Upon contacting Chatmohar Police Station, it was confirmed that no written or verbal complaint had been filed on behalf of Chairman Akhtar Hossain regarding the incident, and no one had lodged any complaints.
When contacted, the accused Jinnah stated that he was unaware of any incident involving Chairman Akhtar being attacked. He suggested that the attack might have been carried out by someone due to old animosities in the area.
Following the attack on the Assistant Teacher of North Sengram High School and Chairman of Bilcholan Union Parishad, Akhtar Hossain, the local public is worried and distressed about the law and order situation in the area. The general public feels fearful and dissatisfied with the deteriorating law and order. Chairman Akhtar Hossain was severely injured, with a strong blow to his right knee.
The local public has called on the police administration to ensure greater police patrols and monitoring in the area. The President of the international organization Greenpeace Bangladesh's Pabna District branch, Lecturer SM Moniruzzaman (Akash), strongly condemned and protested the brutal attack on Mohammad Akhtar Hossain Master, which left him seriously injured. He urged for a thorough investigation into the incident and immediate legal action against the perpetrators.
