In Naogaon, Engine-Run Van Overturns, Crushing Shimul to Death

In Atrai, Naogaon, a man named Shimul (40) was killed after an engine-operated van (BhatBhati) overturned and trapped him. Two others were injured in the incident. The accident occurred on Tuesday (May 6) around 2 PM near the Bhartetulia Bridge area on the Naogaon-Natore regional highway.
The deceased, Shimul, was the son of Abdul Barik from Poanipara village in Raninagar upazila of the district. Local sources reported that the van, loaded with rice husks, was heading towards Atrai upazila from the Raninagar area when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn. Shimul was crushed underneath and died on the spot.
Locals rescued the severely injured driver, Yamin, and another passenger, Belal Hossain, and admitted them to Atrai Upazila Health Complex.
OC Shahabbuddin of Atrai Police Station stated that upon receiving the news, Shimul's body was recovered from the scene and would be sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The overturned van and its goods have been removed from the road.
