Bandarban Naikhongchhari's Baisari Koraliamura: "Father's mysterious death before seeing the face of the newborn child"
Daily Bijoy News, Naikhongchhari (Bandarban) correspondent:
News has been received of the mysterious death of Shahjahan (31), son of Nurul Alam from Ward No. 4 of Baisari Koraliamura, Naikhongchhari, Bandarban. It is alleged that he was murdered in a planned manner by mixing acid into his drinking water at the rubber garden, following a continuation of previous enmity. Mohammad Shahjahan (31), a worker of the Four H (Divine) Company's rubber garden in the Baisari Alikhyong area, went to collect rubber in the early morning of November 16 as he did every day. After finishing collecting rubber, he returned to their office around 2 PM in the afternoon. When he felt thirsty, he drank water from his personal water bottle. Immediately after drinking, he fell ill. He was quickly rushed to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for treatment. Later, while under treatment, he died at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital at 12:10 PM. His wife, Rifamoni, was admitted to Cox's Bazar Eidgah Hospital for delivery as she had reached her delivery time in her pregnancy. Meanwhile, Shahjahan died before he could see the face of his newborn child waiting in his wife's womb. Despite extensive efforts by his relatives and local residents to save him at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, they could not save his life.
Wahidul Islam, the account manager of the Four H (Divine) Company's rubber garden, said, "Mohammad Shahjahan was a laborer in my garden. He was killed by mixing acid in his bottle's water." He was reluctant to disclose the name(s) of who might be involved in this murder. Mohammad Sadek, UP member of Ward No. 4 of Baisari Koraliamura, said, "Based on previous enmity, he was killed in a planned way by mixing acid in his drinking water." His family claims that someone, motivated by enmity stemming from a previous feud, mixed acid into the water in his bottle and killed him. A shadow of mourning has fallen over the area regarding this incident. Mohammad Anwarul Islam, In-charge of Baisari Investigation Center, said, "Mohammad Shahjahan was taken to Cox's Bazar Hospital for treatment, where he died. The process of autopsy is ongoing; details will be known once the report is in hand."
