Two leaders of Awami League from Atgharia, Pabna, arrested.

A special operation by an elite team was conducted in the upazila under the direction of the newly appointed Police Superintendent of Pabna district, Anwar Zahid, yesterday at 5 pm. In this operation, two top leaders of the Atgharia Upazila Awami League were arrested. The arrested individuals are Md. Shahidul Islam Ratan, President of Atgharia Upazila Awami League and former mayor, and Abu Hamid Mohammad Mohaimin Hossain Chanchal, General Secretary of the Upazila Awami League. This special operation was conducted under the supervision of the District Police Superintendent based on intelligence information. Although the police have not yet issued a detailed statement regarding the specific reasons and formal charges of the operation, it has been learned from relevant sources that information was received linking the arrestees to several allegations and criminal activities in the area. They were arrested based on this information. An officer of Pabna District Police confirmed that they have been arrested through the legal process based on specific allegations.
