In Baliakandi, Rajbari, a young woman named Mst. Hawa (18) has committed suicide by hanging. The deceased Hawa was the daughter of Abdul Hai Mollah from Bhatshala village, Islampur union, Baliakandi upazila. On December 19, 2025, between approximately 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, she committed suicide by tying a plastic rope used for tethering goats around her neck to a bamboo beam inside a tin-shed room on the west side of Abdul Hai Mollah's homestead.

From family sources, it is learned that Mst. Hawa woke up in the morning and gave her father breakfast. A short while later, when her parents went to work in the field next to the house, she committed suicide by hanging herself with a noose from a bamboo beam inside the west-side tin-shed room, unbeknownst to everyone in the family. She took her own life while no one was home after her parents went outside.

Mst. Hawa's younger sister, Mim Akhtar (13), could not find her elder sister and, seeing the room door closed, peeked from another room and saw her hanging by a rope around her neck. When Mst. Hawa's younger sister screamed and shouted, her parents and people from around the house came, cut the rope from her neck, and laid her on the ground. They later informed the Baliakandi Police Station.

Upon receiving the news, Baliakandi Police Station police went to the scene. Regarding this, Baliakandi Police Station police stated that further legal procedures are ongoing.

From relatives, it is learned that Mst. Hawa was physically unwell; she would sometimes faint with her teeth clenched and would recover after water was poured on her head. Speaking with Mst. Hawa's parents, it is known that they said Mst. Hawa was occasionally possessed by jinns (spirits).
