An old woman named Lubin Baske has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a woman in Naogaon.

The court sentenced an old man named Lubin Baske (75) to life imprisonment for killing his wife in Naogaon. At the same time, the accused has been fined one lakh taka, in default of which he has been sentenced to another two years in prison. Judge Abu Shamim Azad of Naogaon District and Sessions Court announced the verdict on Sunday (May 19) afternoon. Convicted Lubin Baske is a resident of Bheram Sondighi Adivasipara village of Dhamirhat Upazila.The accused was present in the court when the verdict was announced. According to the statement of the case, Lubin Bask and his wife Malti Rani often had family quarrels. On the afternoon of December 28, 2021, due to a quarrel, Lubin hit his wife with a bamboo stick on her head and other parts of her body. Malati died on the spot. The day after this incident, Lubin Bask's elder brother's wife Shyamoli Mormu filed a case at Dhamirhat police station as a plaintiff. On August 24, 2022, the investigating officer of the case submitted the charge sheet to the court and 9 of the 14 witnesses appeared in the court and testified. The judge sentenced Lubin Bask to life imprisonment as the prosecution's evidence proved the charges against him.
