Allegations of burning of private car in Narail, beating of old women and children and looting of gold ornaments. Police visit the scene. It has been alleged that 50-60 people led by the former chairman of Shingasholpur Union Parishad of Narail Sadar Upazila set fire to the private car owned by Newton Gazi (38) of Gobra village and burnt it to ashes. In addition to burning the car, Newton's old father Abul Hossain Gazi (68), wife Nasreen Akhtar (35), infant son Sabbir Gazi (10) and 6-month-old Arab were severely beaten and injured. Ujjal Roy, Narail district representative said, This incident happened around 12 o'clock on Sunday night. Abul Hossain Gazi, Newton's father, said that the attack and looting of the car took place because Newton was working for Azizur Rahman Bhuiyan, the winner of the pineapple symbol in the Narail Sadar upazila election held on May 21.

According to the complaint, under the leadership of former chairman Ujjwal Sheikh, Newton and his people used to protest against various misdeeds including looting of Gobra Bazar and forcible occupation of land in the area. There was a disagreement between Newton and Ujjwal over this. He worked for Azizur Rahman Bhuiyan, the winner of the pineapple symbol in the Sadar upazila election held on May 21. Newton did. The ex-chairman did a brilliant job on behalf of the horse symbol candidate Tofail Mahmud Tufan. Ujjal and his followers threatened to kill, permanently cripple, and tear out the eyes of Newton until the election day. Newton's wife Nasreen also said that after 12:00 PM, his followers Raju Biswas led by the former chairman, Ripon. Sheikh, Mitul Sheikh, Tutul Sheikh, Samad, Sohag, Ayan Sheikh, Iman, Zahid, Abdur Razzaq, Rashed, Rabiul, 50-60 people including Pius set fire to the private car kept in the garage of our house and burnt it. Later they entered the house and started looking for my husband. He survived as he was in another house. When they could not find him, they beat my baby and old father-in-law with iron rods. During this time, I was robbed of millions of rupees along with my gold ornaments. Ujjal and his men went to Neighbor Lyton's house and attacked the house, breaking the collapsible gate and abusing the women of the house. Former chairman Ujjwal Sheikh denied this allegation and said that I am outside the area. I and my people are not involved in the incident. Misinformation is being purposefully spread in my name. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narail Sadar Police Station Saiful Islam said, the police visited the spot. The operation is continuing to catch those involved in the incident. Those involved in this incident will be brought under the law, he said.
