BNP Criticizes Inconsistencies in July National Charter Draft
Daily Bijoy News Correspondent:
BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed on Sunday pointed out several inconsistencies in the draft of the July National Charter 2025. Speaking to reporters, he said the BNP would formally respond to the final draft—sent by the National Consensus Commission on Saturday—by Wednesday, August 20. “There are inconsistencies in some areas of the draft, and certain issues have not been properly addressed,” Salahuddin stated. The National Consensus Commission has already distributed the final draft of the charter to various political parties. The document proposes a range of reforms, including changes to the constitution, electoral system, judiciary, civil administration, police force, and anti-corruption mechanisms. While the draft reflects agreement among the commission and several political parties on many issues, it also acknowledges that not all proposals received unanimous support, with some parties voicing reservations about specific recommendations.
