To relieve traffic congestion and public suffering, the proposed project to upgrade the main road of Naogaon city to four lanes is finally gaining momentum again. An initiative has been taken to quickly implement this project, which had been stalled for a long time due to various complications. A stakeholder meeting on this matter was held at the District Administrator's office on Wednesday (August 27) at noon. The meeting was chaired by District Administrator Mohammad Abdul Awal. The chief guest at the meeting was the Additional Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division and the convener of the project implementation committee, Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque.

It was informed at the meeting that a plan has been made to upgrade the 16.50-kilometer-long regional highway from Santahar intersection to Chaumasia Square in Naogaon city to four lanes. The estimated cost of the project is Tk 1,200 crore. It is hoped by the concerned officials that after implementation, this project will free Naogaon city from traffic jams and turn it into a modern city.

Also present at the meeting were Joint Secretary Nazneen Wares, Deputy Secretary Zahidul Islam, Naogaon Roads Division Executive Engineer Md. Rashedul Haque Russell, and Sub-Divisional Engineer Nure Alam Siddique. They discussed the various stages of the project, necessary actions, and potential benefits.
