The NCP's chief organizer in Naogaon, Sarjis Alam, said, "There is no safety except death?"
Daily Bijoy News, Naogaon Correspondent:
Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the National Citizen's Party (NCP) for the northern region, has said that for those who wish to perform their duties perfunctorily and then exit through the election, there is no safe exit except death. He warned that no matter where they go in the world, the people of Bangladesh will find and apprehend them. He made these remarks to journalists after a coordination meeting of the NCP's Naogaon district branch.
Stating that the NCP will participate in the upcoming election using the 'Water Lily' symbol, Sarjis Alam said there is no legal barrier to the Water Lily symbol. Nevertheless, despite being an independent constitutional body, the Election Commission is either acting arbitrarily in the post-coup period or is being forced to do so under someone's pressure.
He warned that this will never be accepted. He expressed hope that the Election Commission would perform its duties maintaining its credibility as an independent constitutional institution.
Sarjis Alam said it seems that some advisors are just looking to perform their duties perfunctorily and exit through the election. But if the advisors are afraid to perform their duties standing upon the blood of so many martyrs, then there is no need for them to hold these responsibilities. For those who think this way, there is no safe exit except death. No matter where they go in the world, the people of Bangladesh will catch them.
He further said that all the good people of Bangladesh can unite to form a political party. However, any version of the Awami League is completely irrelevant in post-coup Bangladesh. The NCP will never accept this.
