In Raninagar, Naogaon, an allegation has been raised that paddy was destroyed by spraying weedkiller poison in a field. On Friday night, the paddy in the field of Kanai Chandra Mohanta, son of Bir Muktijoddha Kamal Chandra Mohanta from Haripur village, Kaligram union, was destroyed. A written complaint regarding the incident was filed at the police station on Saturday afternoon.

The landowner, Kanai Chandra Mohanta, stated that he had cultivated Bin-17 variety paddy on 15 decimal of land adjacent to the road on the southern side of the village. The paddy had already eared out and ripened. The paddy could have been harvested within the next 10-15 days. In the meantime, on Friday night, miscreants destroyed the paddy in the field by spraying weedkiller.

He went to the field on Saturday morning and saw this scene. Kanai alleged that there is a dispute over the ownership of the land with Chamak Chandra, son of late Chittaranjan Chandra from the same village, and his mother. They are probably the ones who sprayed the weedkiller and destroyed the paddy.

Meanwhile, Chamak Chandra's mother, Mukti Rani, said, "I have been living in Birampur with my son for a long time. Although we have a dispute with Kanai's family over land ownership in Haripur village, we did not destroy the paddy in the field. Perhaps they did it themselves and are blaming us, or someone else might have done it."

Abdul Hafiz Md. Rayhan, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raninagar Police Station, said, "We have received a written complaint about the incident of paddy being destroyed by spraying weedkiller in the field. The matter will be investigated and necessary action will be taken."
