Daily Bijoy News Teknaf (Cox's Bazar) Correspondent:
The four-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Nusrat Afsi Moni, of Engineer Mamunur Rashid Bhandan, who went missing in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, was returned to her parents' arms as a corpse after 24 hours. Locals found her floating in a nearby pond on Monday (October 5) and rescued her. Afsi Moni went missing on Sunday afternoon while playing in the courtyard of her house. She was the daughter of Engineer Mamunur Rashid Bhandan from Hnila Hoakhiya village in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. Six people have been arrested in connection with this incident.
According to family and local sources, she was playing in the courtyard of her house in East Pankhali last Sunday afternoon. At one point, when the child Afsi Moni was not seen, relatives and others started searching in possible places. Not finding her anywhere, they searched a pond belonging to a local member named Dildar Ahmed, using 10-12 nets. However, no trace was found. Finally, after 24 hours, on Monday afternoon, locals found the child Afsi Moni's dead body in that pond and recovered it. At the time of recovery, the child's body was soft. Her earrings were missing, and there were marks of adhesive tape (plaster) on her mouth.
From this, locals suspect that the child was murdered in a planned manner. Or perhaps the murder was committed to snatch her earrings. It is possible that she was killed and thrown into the pond because she could identify those who snatched the earrings. The murder of such an innocent child has cast a shadow of mourning over the area.
Meanwhile, upon receiving the news, police arrived at the scene, prepared an inquest report of the body, and sent it to the Cox's Bazar morgue. Locals handed over six suspects arrested in this incident to the police. At that time, along with the police, BGB members were also deployed to save the arrested individuals from the wrath of the local people. However, it is still not certain who is involved in this murder. Police are investigating. Locals and conscious circles demand that the real culprits be brought under the law soon. When asked about this, Teknaf Model Police Station OC Zayed Nur said...
