In the 6th Upazila Parishad elections, Rahid Sardar (Kap-Pirich) was elected in Raninagar Upazila of Naogaon and the current chairman Ebadur Rahman (Kai Mach) was elected in Atrai Upazila. Besides, Pradyut Kumar Pramanik was elected as vice chairman in Raninagar and Ruma Begum as female vice chairman and Hafiul Sheikh as vice chairman in Atrai upazila and Ferdausi Yasmin Chowdhury as female vice chairman. Raninagar Upazila Assistant Returning and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Umme Tabassam and Atrai Upazila Assistant Returning and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sanchita Biswas announced this result. Voting was held in 137 centers of two upazilas from 8 am to 4 pm on Wednesday (May 29). In Raninagar upazila, 67 thousand 417 out of 162 thousand five voters cast their vote in 70 centers. In this upazila, 9 people contested for the post of upazila parishad chairman. Out of this, former MP Anwar Hossain Helal's son Rahid Sardar, member of Upazila Awami League, was elected by getting 23 thousand 464 votes each. The nearest competitor Asaduzzaman Kai Maach) got 14 thousand 548 votes. Besides, a total of seven candidates contested for the post of vice chairman. Among them, Pradyut Kumar Chashma was elected by getting 16 thousand 419 votes. Jarjis Hasan got 12 thousand 48 votes against Mithu Tubewell, the nearest rival. Five candidates contested for the post of female vice chairman. Among them, Ruma Begum Padma Phul was elected by getting 32 thousand 139 votes. The nearest rival candidate Morjina Begum got 13 thousand 20 votes each. Polling has been held in total 67 centers in Atrai Upazila. Out of 1 lakh 70 thousand 152 voters in the upazila, 73 thousand 248 votes have been cast. Eight candidates contested for the post of Upazila Parishad Chairman. Among them, the current chairman and vice president of Atrai Upazila Awami League Ebadur Rahman was elected by getting 21 thousand 486 votes. The closest rival is Azizar Rahman Jora Phul received 13 thousand 879 votes each. Besides, a total of three candidates contested for the post of vice chairman. Among them, Hafizul Sheikh Chashma was elected by getting 33 thousand 518 votes. The nearest rival candidate Afshar Ali Pramanik Tala got 32 thousand 274 votes. Four candidates contested for the post of female vice chairman. Among them, Ferdausi Yasmin Chowdhury was elected by getting 36 thousand 429 votes. The nearest competitor Mitu Banu got 22 thousand 11 votes for Football.
